Quintin Head, the first rowing event of 2014, took place on Saturday. This was an event for eights run from Chiswick Bridge to just after Hammersmith Bridge. Latymer had an Under 18 Boys 1st Eight and Under 18 Boys 2nd Eight entered in the J18 eights and IM3 (adult) categories respectively, racing against many other schools including KCS, Wimbledon, Shiplake, St. Pauls and Hampton.

The 1st Eight had a good race, closing on KCS Wimbledon early on and pulling away from Hampton. They finally overtook KCS Wimbledon on the Hammersmith Bend as they passed the Latymer Boathouse. They went on to win the J18 category by ten seconds.

This result was even made even more special as it was the second outing and first race in the brand new 'Nick Sennett' boat, which was only received on Wednesday.

The 2nd Eight also had a very strong race, finishing only 13 seconds behind the 1st Eight. This gave them a finishing position of second in the IM3 (adult) category but more impressively they were the fourth fastest school boy crew on the day, beating most schools' 1st Eights and only finishing behind the 1st Eights from Latymer, St. Pauls and KCS.

This is the strongest set of results from the Latymer Senior Boys Rowing squad in five years and bodes well for the Schools' Head Of The River which takes place on Thursday 13th March.
